Zero-Nicotine Vapes: A Shelf Opportunity Worth Stocking

Why zero-nicotine vapes deserve shelf space now

Disposables remain one of the strongest categories in any vape shop. Most of that shelf is nicotine. But a growing share of adult customers want the same device, the same flavor, the same draw — without nicotine. That demand has been building for a while, and the supply on retail shelves has not kept up. That gap is the opportunity.

For a retailer, the case is straightforward. You already carry the hardware. You already know the flavors that move. Adding the zero-nicotine version of a device you stock does not require a new section or a new fixture. It requires one more SKU on the same peg.

The regulatory angle matters too. State-level rules on product directories, flavor restrictions and import enforcement mostly target nicotine-containing products. Zero-nicotine devices sit outside many of those frameworks. That does not make them unregulated — PACT Act labelling and reporting still apply to vape shipments, and every order we ship requires an adult signature — but it does make the category less exposed to the supply shocks that hit nicotine SKUs.

Who actually buys zero-nicotine vapes

The customer base is wider than most buyers assume. Four groups show up repeatedly:

  • Former smokers who quit nicotine but still want the hand-to-mouth ritual and the flavor.
  • Recreational vapers who never wanted nicotine in the first place and did not know zero-nicotine options existed.
  • Current vapers stepping down who want a zero-nicotine device alongside their regular one.
  • Customers in nicotine-averse settings — gyms, wellness contexts, smoke-free workplaces — who want something without the dependency concern.

None of these buyers need a separate store. They need the store they are already in to have the option. If you do not, they buy it online or from the shop down the street.

What is actually on the market

A zero-nicotine vape is the same device or e-liquid with nicotine removed from the formula. Same coil, same hardware, same flavor profile. Vapor production and throat feel are functionally identical to the nicotine version. A customer who knows a device will recognize the zero-nicotine version immediately.

Most major disposable brands now offer zero-nicotine variants. Geek Bar has the Pulse Zero and Pulse X Zero. RAZ has the LTX 25K and TN9000 in zero nicotine. The Cyclone Gust Pro was built from the ground up as a zero-nicotine device. On the e-liquid side, our wholesale e-liquids range includes freebase, salt and nicotine-free options, so a shop can serve the zero-nicotine customer in bottles as well as disposables.

One distinction worth knowing: zero-nicotine devices are not the same as Nixodine products. Nixodine uses a patented active ingredient that is also nicotine-free but works differently. Both serve the nicotine-free customer, but they are separate categories on the shelf and separate conversations at the counter.

How to add the category without adding risk

The mistake is treating zero-nicotine as a full new category launch. It is not. Start with the zero-nicotine version of two or three devices you already sell well. Put them on the same peg or the same shelf, clearly labeled. That answers the question for the customer who asks without changing your planogram.

When you order, a few practical points matter. Our wholesale disposable vapes shelf runs from under 10,000 puffs to 150,000+, and the 50,000–80,000 band carries the most depth. Zero-nicotine variants tend to follow the same puff bands as their nicotine counterparts, so match the zero SKU to whatever puff range already sells in your store.

On pricing, the case tier is where the margin lives. Orders over $2,500 reach the deepest case price, but that tier is written for single-flavor cases. Mixed-flavor cases within one product line are allowed but do not reach it. If you are testing zero-nicotine for the first time, a mixed case is the lower-risk way in. If the test works, move to single-flavor cases to hit the better tier. Our case price breaks page lays out the tiers.

Freight is a flat $29.99 below $1,500 and free at $1,500 or more to a business address in the contiguous 48 states. We do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii. Orders placed before 2pm Pacific ship the same business day from California or Texas.

Reorder timing and the shelf story

Zero-nicotine is not a fast-turn category the way a top-selling nicotine disposable is. It is a steady seller that answers a specific question. That means you do not need deep inventory. You need consistent presence. Keep two or three zero-nicotine SKUs in stock at all times rather than cycling through a wide range.

Watch your reorder point. If a zero-nicotine SKU sells out and sits empty for a week, the customer who wanted it has already bought elsewhere. The cost of a stockout here is not just the lost sale — it is the lost habit. A customer who finds zero-nicotine at your shop comes back for it.

The shelf story is also a differentiator. Most convenience stores and gas stations do not carry zero-nicotine disposables. A vape shop that does can say so plainly: we have the device you like, without the nicotine. That is a reason to walk in that a gas station cannot match.

If you are building your first order and want to test the category alongside your core nicotine SKUs, our guide to building a disposable order walks through the mix. The opening order minimum is $500, and after that there is no minimum. Net 30 terms become available after three settled orders.
